  1. 1. I learned a lot about what the members of my car are up to outside of the classroom. Where they live, what they like to do for fun, and about their friends. I consider these some important things to be able to get to know people better.
    2. The most exciting thing about today’s activity was picking raspberries because it’s something I’ve never done before. Especially the yellow ones, because I love eating raspberries and never knew they were a thing. Having some freshly pressed apple cider was awesome too because I haven’t had some in so long.
    3. I think getting to know people outside of the classroom is important to make all of us closer and make the learning community stronger and more comfortable for us. Most people are different outside of the classroom so it was nice to see that side of people. Ultimately, I think this experience will make our experience inside the classroom more fun now that I feel we know each other better.
    4. I think the most important thing is that as many people as possible are there. Maybe start the date planning process a bit sooner. I also really liked the idea of small groups pitching ideas, I think that’d be really fun for future GUSTers.

  2. I learned about where my group members lived, both in their hometowns and current dorms. We also talked about what we were going to be for Halloween.
The most exciting thing about today’s outing was the yellow raspberries. I grow raspberries in my backyard so raspberry picking was nothing new to me, however the yellow ones were. I had never heard of a variety of yellow raspberries and was very excited to try them. They were pretty good although they have a bit of a different aftertaste.
Gathering outside of the classroom is truly important to build connections with the people we meet. Yes, we see each other twice a week but we are in a classroom setting where people don’t necessarily show their true personalities. It is good to have normal conversations and learn about each other outside of the classroom.
For future outings of other GUSTers I recommend that they communicate with each other. I feel as though a few people were very vocal about their ideas, but most people didn’t respond whether they liked those ideas or not and we didn’t have a very good turnout. I feel like a google form would be a good idea because you can pitch your ideas and it could be anonymous as well.

  3. I learned a lot about where the group members lived and what they like to do for hobbies. We listened to music the whole time and talked a lot about school and bonded over that. I do think it helped build connection between the group. After, we all went to dunkin donuts and got food and talked.
